The State of Independence in America baseline study is released

Americans embrace working independently, rather than being a company employee. Those who do it are happy being their own bosses and are committed to the lifestyle, according to a new study conducted by Rockbridge Associates and sponsored by MBO Partners. Nearly 80% of independent workers are satisfied with their work situation, including 58% who are highly satisfied and 21% who are satisfied. More than half (55%) say it was their proactive choice to become an independent worker. Given these positive attitudes and interest by Americans to become independent, it is expected that the U.S. independent workforce will grow to more than 20 million over the next two years.

The Independent Workforce Index is a landmark study that examines the state of independent work in America and provides the first national baseline to help track trends and changes in the independent workforce over time. For full details of the study, please download a copy of the report.
