U.S. Small Business to Add 3.8 Million Jobs in 2011

With optimism at an all time high, small business invests in its workforce and technology

U.S. small businesses have turned a corner since the Great Recession and are optimistic about their future.  For the first time in two years, more small business owners think the economic climate is improving rather than worsening, 35% versus 19%. They are acting on their optimism as well.  If they carry out their hiring plans, small business will add a total of 3.8 million jobs to the U.S. economy in 2011.

Small business has returned to investing in technology given their renewed hope for the future. More than half (56%) of small businesses have a website, up from 46% a year ago. Nearly a third (31%) of small businesses use social media for their businesses, which has increased from 24% a year ago and 12% two years ago.
